Complete Forgiveness of Sins (6) — Rom. 5:6-8
Christ Died for Our Sins
Let us again select several verses of the Bible to see clearly the redemption Christ has accomplished for us, that we may be saved through Him. Romans 5:6-8 says, “For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:9-10 says, “Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” This clearly shows us that He died for sin, giving sinners a way to be declared not guilty! Therefore, 1 Corinthians 15:3 also says that Christ “died for our sins.”
The last part of Hebrews 9:22 says, “and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness”. Sin must be punished before it can be forgiven.
1 Peter 2:24 says, “and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross.” In the same book, 3:18 says, “For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God….”
All Our Sins Laid on Christ
Isaiah 53:6 says, “All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him.” The words “fall on” here are better translated “laid on”, The iniquity of all of us has been laid on Jesus Christ. An accountant brother said that this is like transferring an account: what was originally your account has now been transferred to the account of Jesus Christ. Someone once asked a Christian how to receive the forgiveness of sins. This Christian pointed to this verse in Isaiah and said, “Enter at the first word ‘all’ and come out the second word ‘all’, and you will be saved.” Yes, we have all gone astray like sheep, and I am included; I am a sinner who has lost his way. The LORD has laid the iniquity of us all on Him — yes, my iniquity has also been laid on Him.
Message Major Points: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us, bearing our sins Himself, the righteous in the place of the unrighteous. We have all gone astray like sheep, but God made the iniquity of us all to be laid on Christ; therefore, by His blood we can obtain complete forgiveness and be brought back before God.
Daily Prayer: Lord Jesus, I admit that I too am a lost sheep, but I thank You that my sins have been laid on You. Thank You for bearing my sins, the just for the unjust, and bringing me before God. Make me to trust in You and remember Your redemption all my life and to live by the new life You have given me. Amen.
