接受礼物(接上篇)
仆人也将两个手镯戴在利百加手上(创二四22,47)。就某种意义说,她是被铐住了。按照新约的观念,这意思是我们领受了神圣的功用(罗十二4)。我们越被那灵铐住,我们就越从祂接受恩赐。我们不但领受了神圣的口味,更得着了神圣的功用。送给利百加的两个镯子重十舍客勒,因而能满足神诫命的要求。相反的,她鼻子上的金环只重半舍客勒,这半舍客勒表征初尝,豫尝。我们所尝的一半,指明另一半,就是全尝,即将来到。豫尝只有一部分,功用却是完全的。不要说你只有一半的功用。不,你的功用,你的银子是完整的。每个人至少有一锭银子。我们从圣灵所接受的豫尝只是部分的,但我们从祂所领受神圣的功用却是完整的。
利百加也接受了金器、银器和衣服(创二四53),这一切都指明基督的丰富。起初利百加接受一个金环戴在鼻子上,两个镯子戴在手上。她接纳了仆人的使命之后,就带来更多的丰富。同样,我们进入了教会生活,并接纳了圣灵的托付之后,就带来基督的丰富,就是金器、银器和衣服,给我们享受。
藉这一切细节我们就能知道,创世记二十四章完全是神圣的,并且含示神圣的观念。为甚么金环只是半舍客勒,而不是四分之三舍客勒?为甚么手镯是十舍客勒,而不是九舍客勒或十一舍客勒?为甚么在仆人的使命被接纳以前,他不拿出所有的丰富?这一切都和新约的启示相合。今天,我们不仅享受我们鼻子上的金环,手上的金镯;我们还享受金器、银器和衣服。在教会生活中,基督一切的丰富都是我们的。
跟从圣灵
利百加接受并享受这一切丰富之后,就跟从仆人,骑上骆驼行经旷野,直到她与以撒相会(创二四58,61-65)。同样,我们也在跟从那灵,骑著“骆驼”行经漫长的旅程。当我们遇见基督,我们就要从“骆驼”上下来。利百加在骆驼背上行经旷野,我们在今日现代的“骆驼”上行经旷野。按照利未记十一章,骆驼是不洁净的,却有用处。今天许多的便利设备在神眼中是不洁净的,却使我们能行过旷野。当我们遇见主的时候,就要离开这些“骆驼”了。

Receiving Gifts (Continued)
The servant also put two bracelets on Rebekah’s hands (Gen. 24:22, 47). In a sense, she was handcuffed. According to the New Testament concept, this means we have received the divine function (Rom. 12:4). The more we are handcuffed by the Spirit, the more we receive gifts from Him. We have not only received the divine taste but have also obtained the divine function. The two bracelets given to Rebekah weighed ten shekels, thus being able to satisfy the requirements of God’s commandments. Conversely, the gold ring on her nose weighed only half a shekel. This half shekel signifies a foretaste, a pledge. The half that we taste points to the other half, which is the full taste that is coming. A foretaste is only a part, but the function is complete. Do not say that you only have half a function. No, your function, your talent, is complete. Everyone has at least one talent. The foretaste we receive from the Holy Spirit is only partial, but the divine function we receive from Him is complete.
Rebekah also received gold ornaments, silver ornaments and clothing (Gen. 24:53), all of which signify the riches of Christ. At first, Rebekah received a gold ring for her nose and two bracelets for her hands. After she accepted the servant’s mission, she brought forth more riches. Similarly, after we entered into the church life and accepted the commission of the Holy Spirit, we brought forth the riches of Christ—gold, silver and clothing—for us to enjoy.
Through all these details, we can know that Genesis 24 is entirely divine and implies divine concepts. Why was the gold ring only half a shekel, and not three-quarters of a shekel? Why were the bracelets ten shekels, and not nine or eleven shekels? Why did the servant not bring out all the riches before his mission was accepted? Everything here corresponds with the revelation of the New Testament. Today, we not only enjoy the gold ring on our nose and the gold bracelets on our hands; we also enjoy the gold ornaments, silver ornaments, and clothing. In the church life, all the riches of Christ are ours.
Following the Spirit
After Rebekah received and enjoyed all these riches, she followed the servant and rode on the camels through the wilderness until she met Isaac (Gen. 24:58, 61-65). Similarly, we are also following the Spirit, riding on “camels” through the long journey. When we meet Christ, we will come down from the “camels.” Rebekah traveled through the wilderness on the backs of camels, and we travel through the wilderness on today’s modern “camels.” According to Leviticus 11, the camel is unclean, yet it is useful. Many convenient devices today are unclean in God’s eyes, yet they enable us to pass through the wilderness. When we meet the Lord, we will leave these “camels” behind.
Daily Q: The story concludes with the words, “Isaac was comforted.” Therefore, in the journey of following the Lord, whose satisfaction and comfort should we be most concerned with?
