font-size: 20px; font-family: 'times new roman', times;\">Furthermore, the apostle John said, \u201cNo one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God\u201d (1 John 3:9). The \u201cseed\u201d here is Christ &#8212; the seed of the woman. This conquering seed, the victorious seed, is that very seed. The first overcomer was this seed. We have a conquering seed within us. If we allow this seed to grow, it will surely overcome. We should all shout, \u201cHallelujah! We have this victorious seed inside us!\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 20px; font-family: 'times new roman', times;\">One day I was amazed to discover that Charles Wesley, more than 200 years ago, captured this victorious seed of the woman in the last stanza of his hymn Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. In that stanza, we clearly see the victorious seed of the woman: <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 20px; font-family: 'times new roman', times;\">Come, Desire of nations, come,\u000b<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 20px; font-family: 'times new roman', times;\">Fix in us Thy humble home;\u000b<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 20px; font-family: 'times new roman', times;\">Rise, the woman\u2019s conqu\u2019ring Seed,\u000b<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 20px; font-family: 'times new roman', times;\">Bruise in us the serpent\u2019s head.\u000b<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 20px; font-family: 'times new roman', times;\">Adam\u2019s likeness now efface,\u000b<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 20px; font-family: 'times new roman', times;\">Stamp Thine image in its place:\u000b<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 20px; font-family: 'times new roman', times;\">Final Adam from above,\u000b<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 20px; font-family: 'times new roman', times;\">Reinstate us in Thy love. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 20px; font-family: 'times new roman', times;\">This stanza begins by pleading with the \u201cDesire of nations,\u201d a phrase drawn from Haggai 2:7. Christ is the One desired by all nations. The author does not ask Christ &#8212; the Desire of nations &#8212; to come and die for us on the cross. Rather, he prays, \u201cFix in us Thy humble home.\u201d The next line does not say, \u201cEmmanuel, Jesus Christ, the Son of God,\u201d but rather, \u201cRise, the woman\u2019s conqu\u2019ring Seed.\u201d Then the author asks this \u201cconquering Seed\u201d to \u201cbruise in us the serpent\u2019s head.\u201d Although Christ already destroyed the serpent on the cross, He must now crush the serpent\u2019s head within us. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 20px; font-family: 'times new roman', times;\">Moreover, Adam\u2019s old image must be erased, because it has been thoroughly infused with the serpent\u2019s nature. Wesley continues, \u201cStamp Thine image in its place,\u201d meaning to transform us into the Lord\u2019s likeness. The hymn ends with a prayer: that the last Adam, in all His fullness, would restore our entire being. We should all praise the Lord that He now dwells in us, and that He is crushing the serpent\u2019s head within us.
