对我们来说，作神的工就是吃基督，接受祂，因祂活着。我们必须调整我们为神作工的属人观念。每天我们必须吃基督，好叫我们因基督活着。在这一章里，主好几次说，吃祂的人要因祂活着。今天的问题不是作工，乃是生活。你是过怎样的生活？你若不吃喝基督，你根本没有生命。你若没有生命，你怎能活着？五十三节说，“我实实在在的告诉你们，你们若不吃人子的肉，不喝人子的血，就没有生命在你们里面。”神圣的观念不是为神作工，乃是接受基督作我们的食物和饮料。藉着吃喝基督，我们就被基督充满。然后我们才能正确的为神而活。
五十七节是整本圣经中最强烈、最奇特的一句话：“活的父怎样差我来，我又因父活着，照样，那吃我的人，也要因我活着。”那是全能神，创造宇宙者的主劝我们吃祂。人绝不可能有这样的思想。当然，我们能说，我们必须敬拜主，敬畏主，信靠主，顺从主，向主祷告，为主作工，但是我们会害怕想到我们该吃祂。
我们一天必须吃三餐，好叫我们能以活着。换句话说，我们是凭吃活着。照样，我们必须吃主，好叫我们能凭主活着。约翰六章全章最重要的点就是：主是我们的食物，是生命的粮。吃祂不是一次永远的事，乃是天天的事，甚至是时时刻刻对主的经历。我们都必须接触主，并吃主。我们不仅仅是软弱的人，更是饥饿的人，需要主作我们生命的供应。主是可吃的，因为祂是生命的粮。我们必须运用我们的灵，从祂这话这灵得餧养。然后我们就要将祂接受到我们里面，消化祂、经历祂，并且时时刻刻应用祂。我们必须忘记我们的作，我们的行，并学习吃基督，且凭我们所吃的活着。

The Lord’s Words Are Spirit and Life (4) – John 6:56
For us, to do the work of God is to eat Christ, to receive Him, and to live because of Him. We need to adjust our human concept of working for God. Every day we must eat Christ so that we may live because of Christ. In this chapter, the Lord said several times that those who eat Him will live because of Him. Today the question is not one of “working,” but of “living.” What kind of life do you live? If you do not eat and drink Christ, you have no life at all. Without life, how can you live? Verse 53 says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves.” God’s concept is not that we should work for Him, but that we should receive Christ as our food and drink. By eating and drinking Christ, we are filled with Him, and then we can live rightly for God.
Verse 57 is one of the strongest and most marvelous words in the entire Bible: “As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me.” This is the Almighty God, the Creator of the universe, urging us to eat Him. Man could never have conceived of such a thought. Of course, we might say we need to worship the Lord, fear Him, trust Him, obey Him, pray to Him and work for Him — but we would never dare to think that we should eat Him.
Every day we must eat three meals in order to live. In other words, our living depends on eating. In the same way, we must eat the Lord so that we may live because of Him. The most important point in John chapter 6 is this: the Lord is our food, the bread of life. Eating Him is not a once-for-all matter, but a daily matter, even an hourly experience with the Lord. We all must contact the Lord and eat the Lord. We are not only weak people — we are hungry people in need of the Lord as our life supply. The Lord is edible because He is the bread of life. We must exercise our spirit to be nourished by Him through His words as Spirit. Then we will receive Him into us, digest Him, experience Him, and apply Him moment by moment. We must forget about our “doing” and our “works” and learn to eat Christ and live because of what we eat.
