神咒诅人，使人流离飘荡
神见该隐不肯悔改，就说，“你作了什么事呢？你兄弟的血，有声音从地里向我哀告。地开了口，从你手里接受你兄弟的血；现在你必从这地受咒诅。你种地，地不再给你效力；你必流离飘荡在地上。”从此该隐被赶逐离开神的面，去住在伊甸东边挪得之地。他和他的子孙都走了撒但的路，就是死亡的路。
人产生无神文化
该隐离开神，就建造了一座城。他的子孙发明畜牧以谋生，发明音乐以自娱，发明利器以自卫。最终产生了无神的文化。这个文化的结果是满足情欲，犯奸淫，互相争斗、凶杀。在创世记第四章中，该隐和他子孙的谱系，没有列明任何人的年龄。因为这谱系乃是失丧者的谱系，他们的年日在神面前不算数（创四10-24）。
该隐不悔改，走他自己的路，结果产生了无神的文化。人类文化的发展乃是由于人类失去了神。原初那位创造人的神乃是人的一切。神是人的保护、维持、供应、喜乐、娱乐和防卫。在园子里，人除了耕地与神合作外，什么事都不需要作。然而，当人失去了神，就不得不发明自己的文化。这无神的文化在创世记四章开始发展，且要继续发展，直到启示录里的大巴比伦达到极峰。而这文化的结果是满足情欲，犯奸淫，互相争斗和凶杀。今天的社会岂非充满这些？
然而，感谢主，我们不在无神的文化里。在创世记四章我们看见两个相反的家庭。亚当的家庭是信福音的家庭，父亲开路相信福音，母亲铺路，儿子亚伯走在这路上。但拉麦的家庭是追求世界的家庭，父亲满足情欲，母亲讲究装饰，儿子犹八追求娱乐。这是何等的对比！

The Result of Man’s Second Fall – Gen. 4:12, 16-17
God Cursed Man, Making Him a Wanderer — Seeing that Cain would not repent, God said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to Me from the ground. Now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. When you cultivate the ground, it will no longer yield its strength to you. You will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth.” From then on, Cain went out from the presence of God and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden. He and his descendants all walked the way of Satan — the way of death.
Man Produced a Godless Culture — After Cain left God, he built a city. His descendants invented animal husbandry for livelihood, music for entertainment, and metal tools for protection. Eventually this gave rise to a godless culture. The outcome of this culture was the indulgence of lust, fornication, strife and murder. In Genesis chapter 4, in the genealogy of Cain and his descendants, no ages are recorded. This is because that genealogy is the genealogy of the lost; their years do not count before God (Gen. 4:10–24).
Since Cain did not repent and chose his own way, the result was the development of a godless culture. The progress of human culture has been due to mankind losing God. Originally, the Creator God was everything to man. He was man’s protection, sustenance, supply, joy, entertainment and defense. In the garden, apart from tilling the ground in cooperation with God, man had no need to do anything else. But when man lost God, he was forced to invent his own culture. This godless culture began in Genesis chapter 4 and will continue developing until it reaches its peak in Babylon the Great in the book of Revelation. The result of this culture is the indulgence of lust, fornication, strife and murder. Is not today’s society filled with these very things?
Yet, praise the Lord, we are not in a godless culture. In Genesis chapter 4, we see two contrasting families. Adam’s family was a family that believed the gospel: the father opened the way to faith, the mother paved the way, and the son Abel walked in it. But Lamech’s family was a family that pursued the world: the father indulged lust, the mother cared for outward adornment, and the son Jubal pursued entertainment. What a striking contrast!
