创世记二章的亚当是基督的预表和预像。根据圣经，在园中的亚当叫首先的亚当，主耶稣这真亚当称为末后的亚当（林前十五45）。借基督在肉体中出生，真亚当来了。有一天基督这真亚当被摆在十字架上，祂在上面被钉死，这正是亚当的沉睡所预表。主耶稣被钉十字架时，有兵丁用枪扎他的肋旁，随即有血和水流出来（约十九34）。血是为着救赎，而水是祂神圣生命的流，表征产生教会的生命。亚当从沉睡中醒来，看见用他肋骨建造成的夏娃，就娶了夏娃作他的配偶。这表征基督从死人中复活，祂神圣的生命就释放出来，并得以分赐到我们这班信祂的人里面。使我们得着重生，并构成祂的教会，就是在复活中的真夏娃。
亚当与夏娃至终成为一体，成为完整的一个，这是神人联合为一的寓意。神的心意是要与人成为一。祂借着基督的死与复活产生教会，而达到这目的。教会代表正确的人性，与神这位丈夫相配。在这联合里，神性与人性联合为一，直到永远。而新耶路撒冷正是神人的联合，由神性与人性所组成。亚当与夏娃乃是一，生活在一起，这描绘出神这宇宙的丈夫，要与重生的人永远一起生活。在永远里，神在基督里是人生活的中心、实际和生命。人借着神在基督里作生命而活。人要彰显神的荣耀，并运用神的权柄，治理新地。神与人，人与神要永远在一起过婚姻的生活。而今天我们这班蒙了重生的人，在灵里与主成为一灵，就是与我们所爱的主，在地上同过“婚姻生活”。这乃是一个预尝，将来在新耶路撒冷中，我们要成为基督完备的团体新妇，直到永远。

Adam and Eve – Christ and Church – Gen. 2:22-23
Adam in Genesis chapter 2 is a type and prefiguration of Christ. According to the Bible, Adam in the garden is called the first Adam, while the Lord Jesus — the true Adam — is called the last Adam (1 Cor. 15:45). Through Christ’s birth in the flesh, the real Adam came. One day, this true Adam — Christ — was placed on the cross and crucified. This was a fulfillment of Adam’s deep sleep as a type. When the Lord Jesus was crucified, a soldier pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water flowed out (John 19:34). The blood is for redemption, and the water signifies the flowing of His divine life — the life that produces the church. When Adam awoke from his sleep and saw Eve, who had been built from his rib, he took her as his wife. This signifies that Christ, after rising from the dead, released His divine life and imparted it into us who believe in Him. Through this, we are regenerated and constituted to become His church — the true Eve in resurrection.
Adam and Eve eventually became one — complete and united. This signifies the union of God and man. God’s desire is to become one with man. Through Christ’s death and resurrection, the church was produced to fulfill this purpose. The church represents proper humanity, matching God as the Husband. In this union, divinity and humanity are joined together forever. The New Jerusalem is exactly this union of God and man, composed of both divine and human elements. Adam and Eve were one, living together — this depicts the picture of God, the universal Husband, living eternally with the regenerated ones. In eternity, God in Christ will be the center, reality and life of human living. Man will live by God in Christ as life. Man will express God’s glory and exercise God’s authority to reign over the new earth. God and man, man and God, will live together forever in a marriage life. Even today, we who are regenerated have become one spirit with the Lord in our spirit — experiencing this “marriage life” with our beloved Lord on earth. This is a foretaste of the future. We will become the perfected corporate Bride of Christ in the New Jerusalem for eternity.
