The Eyes Must Be Single (4) – Matt. 6:24

When the eyes are single, they become clear, and the light is able to shine through. The Lord says, “Your whole body will be full of light.” What does it mean for the whole body to be full of light? It means that there is sufficient light for our feet to walk, sufficient light for our hands to work, and sufficient light for our mind to think. In other words, every part of us is illuminated. Light can fully fill our emotions, our will, our thoughts, our love, our actions, and our path. There is no area left in darkness, because our eyes are single.

We have already said before that only a spiritual person can read the Bible. Now we need to add one more thing: only a consecrated man can read the Bible. If a man is not consecrated, no matter how he reads, he will never read well. Whenever he reads, he will run into areas where he is not consecrated, and darkness will come upon him. When he reads again, he encounters those same unconsecrated areas, and darkness comes again. When darkness covers a man, he cannot receive anything before God. A person have to be absolute before God — he cannot serve the Lord on one hand and still hope to walk his own way on the other.

Some may say, “I truly want to know God’s will, but I do not understand what the Bible teaches about this matter.” This is merely an excuse; it is not the truth. The reason he does not know is because he is unwilling to walk in the Lord’s way. If he genuinely desires to walk in the Lord’s way, he will always see that the Lord’s way is clear before him. Only one kind of person remains confused — the one whose eyes are not single.
