我们最好把这三节圣经连在一起：“神是灵，”“我…的话就是灵，”“从灵生的，就是灵。”圣经的话是灵，人重生时所得的生命也是灵，是灵的人，去读是灵的话，圣经在他身上才开始发亮，才开始有用处。
不管一个人多聪明，多会读书，如果他没有重生，这一本书在他身上是莫名其妙的。一个重生的人，即使文化很低，但是他读圣经的力量还比一个没有重生的大学教授好，因为一个有重生的灵，一个没有重生的灵。圣经不是靠聪明、靠研究、靠天分高就能懂得，因为神的话是灵，必须有重生的灵的人才能懂。圣经的根是属灵的，圣经的本质是属灵的，所以，人若没有重生的灵，就不领会这本书，这本书在他身上就成了一本封闭的书。
在约翰六章五十五节主耶稣说，“我的肉真是可吃的，我的血真是可喝的。”当时那些不信主耶稣的犹太人一听，觉得这是甚么话，怎么能吃你的肉，喝你的血！可是重生的人都知道这是指着神的儿子说的，并且要俯伏下来说，“我的生命是因着你的肉，因着你的血而有的。没有你的肉，我今天没有生命；没有你的血，我今天不能活。你的的确确是我们的粮食。”有重生的灵的人读主的话，不只不奇怪，并且会感谢，会赞美。
主说，“叫人活着的乃是灵，肉体是无益的；我对你们所说的话，就是灵。” 在这里我们看见有两个范围：一个范围是灵，一个范围是肉体。在灵的范围里的都是活的，都是有用的；在肉体的范围里的都是无用的。读圣经非有灵不可，非在灵的范围里不可。不管一个人学问多深，研究、分析的力量多好，如果缺了这个灵，就没有法子在神面前读圣经。

To Be Spiritual (2) – John 6:63
We better connect these three verses of Scripture together: “God is Spirit,” “My words…are spirit,” “that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” The words of the Bible are spirit, and the life that a man receives at regeneration is also spirit. When a spiritual man reads words that are spirit, the Bible begins to shine upon him and becomes useful to him.
No matter how intelligent a man is, no matter how well he can read books, if he has not been regenerated, this book will be incomprehensible to him. A regenerated person, even if he has limited education, has greater ability to read the Bible than an unregenerated university professor, because one has a regenerated spirit and the other does not. The Bible cannot be understood by cleverness, by study, nor by high natural talent, because God’s word is spirit and can only be understood by those who have a regenerated spirit. The root of the Bible is spiritual, the essence of the Bible is also spiritual; thus, if a person does not have a regenerated spirit, he will not comprehend this book, and this book will become a sealed book to him.
In John 6:55, the Lord Jesus said, “My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.” When those Jews who did not believe in the Lord Jesus heard this, they thought, “What kind of talk is this? How can we eat your flesh and drink your blood!” But regenerated men all know this refers to the Son of God, and they will bow down and say, “My life exists because of Your flesh and because of Your blood. Without Your flesh, I would have no life today; without Your blood, I could not live today. You truly are our food.” Men with a regenerated spirit who read the Lord’s words will not only not find the words odd, but will give thanks and will praise instead.
The Lord said, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit.” Here we see two realms: one realm is spirit, and one realm is flesh. Everything in the realm of spirit is living and useful; everything in the realm of flesh is useless. To read the Bible, one must have the spirit and be in the realm of spirit. Regardless the depth of a man’s learning, or his ability to research and analyze, if he lacks this spirit, he has no way to read the Bible before God.
