万国“羡慕,”万民“望,”愿你安家我心房;
女人后裔-得胜者,在我里面毁古蛇;
亚当旧样全除尽,你的形像将我印;

The Seed of the Woman (2)– Rom. 16:20
Furthermore, the apostle John said, “No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God” (1 John 3:9). The “seed” here is Christ — the seed of the woman. This conquering seed, the victorious seed, is that very seed. The first overcomer was this seed. We have a conquering seed within us. If we allow this seed to grow, it will surely overcome. We should all shout, “Hallelujah! We have this victorious seed inside us!”
One day I was amazed to discover that Charles Wesley, more than 200 years ago, captured this victorious seed of the woman in the last stanza of his hymn Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. In that stanza, we clearly see the victorious seed of the woman:
Come, Desire of nations, come,
Fix in us Thy humble home;
Rise, the woman’s conqu’ring Seed,
Bruise in us the serpent’s head.
Adam’s likeness now efface,
Stamp Thine image in its place:
Final Adam from above,
Reinstate us in Thy love.
This stanza begins by pleading with the “Desire of nations,” a phrase drawn from Haggai 2:7. Christ is the One desired by all nations. The author does not ask Christ — the Desire of nations — to come and die for us on the cross. Rather, he prays, “Fix in us Thy humble home.” The next line does not say, “Emmanuel, Jesus Christ, the Son of God,” but rather, “Rise, the woman’s conqu’ring Seed.” Then the author asks this “conquering Seed” to “bruise in us the serpent’s head.” Although Christ already destroyed the serpent on the cross, He must now crush the serpent’s head within us.
Moreover, Adam’s old image must be erased, because it has been thoroughly infused with the serpent’s nature. Wesley continues, “Stamp Thine image in its place,” meaning to transform us into the Lord’s likeness. The hymn ends with a prayer: that the last Adam, in all His fullness, would restore our entire being. We should all praise the Lord that He now dwells in us, and that He is crushing the serpent’s head within us. He is the victorious seed of the woman.
