十九至二十节：『耶和华神用土所造成的野地各样走兽，和空中各样飞鸟，都带到那人面前看他叫甚么……那人便给一切牲畜、和空中飞鸟、野地走兽都起了名；只是那人没有遇见配偶帮助他。』神将各样的活物都带到亚当面前，但是没有一个是亚当的配偶。所有用土造的活物，都不能作亚当的配偶。
二十一节：『耶和华神使他沉睡，他就睡了；于是取下他的一条肋骨，又把肉合起来。耶和华神就用那人身上所取的肋骨，造成一个女人，领她到那人跟前。』这就是亚当的配偶，这就是预表以弗所五章所说的教会。凡是用土造的，凡不是从亚当身上取出来的，都不能作亚当的配偶。所有的野兽、牲畜、飞鸟都是用土造的，都不是从亚当身上取出来的，它们都不能作亚当的配偶。我们要记得，夏娃是用亚当的肋骨造的，亚当是夏娃的原料。这就是说，教会是从基督出来的，出于基督的才是教会，不出于基督的就不是教会。
在创世记一章二十六节：『神说，我们要照着我们的形像，按着我们的样式造人，使他们…』这里造人的『人』在希伯来文圣经里是单数的，可是下面的代名词却变成了双数的『他们』。这给我们看见：神是造一个人，但也是造两个人。一个人就是两个人，两个人就是一个人。为甚么？因为夏娃是在亚当里。二十七节又说：『神就照着自己的形像造人，乃是照着祂的形像造他们。』神如何造『人』，神也如何造『他们』。不只是造亚当一个人而已，并且夏娃也包括在里面。『神照着自己的形像造人，』这『人』是单数的，是预表基督；『乃是照着祂的形像造他们，』这『他们』是多数的，是包括教会。神不只要独生子，神并且要众子；那一个儿子如何，众子也必如何。

Eve Came Out of Adam and the Church Came Out of Christ – Gen. 1:26
Verses 19–20 say: “Jehovah God formed from the ground every beast of the field and every bird of the air and brought them to the man to see what he would call them… The man gave names to all the cattle and to the birds of the air and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper as his counterpart.” God brought all the living creatures before Adam, but none was found to be his counterpart. All the living beings formed from the ground could not be Adam’s companion.
Verse 21 says, “Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh in its place. Jehovah God built the rib, which He had taken from the man, into a woman and brought her to the man.” This woman became Adam’s counterpart. This typifies what is spoken of in Ephesians chapter 5 regarding the church. Everything made from the dust — everything not taken out of Adam—could not be his counterpart. All the beasts, cattle, and birds were formed from the ground; none came from Adam’s own body, and thus none could be his counterpart. We must remember: Eve was built from Adam’s rib — Adam was the material from which Eve was made. In the same way, the church comes out of Christ. What comes out of Christ is the church; what does not come out of Christ is not the church.
In Genesis 1:26, it says, “God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them…” Here, the word “man” is singular in the original Hebrew, yet the pronoun that follows is plural — “them.” This shows us that God made one man, yet also two. One man is two persons, and two persons are one man. Why? Because Eve was within Adam. Verse 27 continues: “God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” The way God created “man” is the way He created “them.” Not only was Adam created; Eve was also included in him.
“God created man in His own image” — this “man” is singular and typifies Christ. “In the image of God He created them” — this “them” is plural and includes the church. God does not only want an only begotten Son; He also wants many sons. As that one Son is, so also will the many sons be.
