人是一个有三部分的器皿
神造人的时候，祂用地上的尘土，造成人外面的形状，就是人的身体，身体是人接触物质界的器官。接着神向人吹了一口气，人就成为活的魂，有魂作他的人位，并作他接触精神界的器官。而神的气进入人里面，就成了人的灵，是人接触神的器官。这样，神创造的人，乃是一个有三部分的器皿。最外面的部分是体，用来接触物质界的事物；第二层是魂，用来接触精神界的事物；而最深处的一层是灵，专专用来接触神、接受神并盛装神。如同收音机里有接收器，为着接受电波。一旦接收器坏了，虽然大气中密布着无线电波，然而因着没有接收器，无线电波就无法通过。照样，我们的身体是外部的容器，而在我们里面有神所造的灵，作为接受神这属天电波的接收器。借这器官我们就可以接触属灵的事物。人的灵若是失了功用，就不能感受到神。因此我们必须调整我们的灵，运用我们的灵来接触神。
人有三部分，所以也有三种需要─物质的需要、精神的需要和属灵的需要。今天的人往往只顾到前面两种需要，而忽略第三种需要。这就是我们需要有召会生活的原因，唯有召会生活，能帮助人满足第三种的需要。也许我们有最精美的物质享受，以及最上好的精神满足，但我们仍有所缺。因为我们需要属灵的享受，我们需要神。人的灵是神特别造成的。撒迦利亚十二章一节，说到神铺张诸天，建立地基，并造人里面的灵。在这宇宙中有三样同等重要的东西：诸天、地、人里面的灵。诸天是为着地，地是为着人，人有灵是为着神。神创造诸天是为着地。没有诸天，地就长不出东西。地是为着人，而人里面有灵是为着盛装神。所以，人是全宇宙的中心，而人的中心乃是他的灵，这是非常重要的。就着神说，人里面若没有灵，人就成了空壳子。地上若没有人，地就是空虚的，诸天也是无用的。赞美主，诸天供应地，地供应人，而人有灵来接受神。人的灵也是神的灵作工的所在，并神居住的所在。

Man Is a Three-Part Vessel – Zec. 12:1
When God created man, He used the dust of the ground to form the outward part of man — his body. The body is the organ for man to contact the physical world. Then God breathed into man, and man became a living soul, having a soul as his person and as the organ for contacting the psychological realm. The breath of God that entered into man became man’s spirit — the organ for man to contact God. In this way, the man God created is a three-part vessel. The outermost part is the body, for contacting material things; the second layer is the soul, for contacting psychological matters; and the innermost part is the spirit, which is exclusively for contacting God, receiving God and containing God. It is just like a radio, which has a receiver to receive radio waves. If the receiver is broken, then even though the air is filled with radio waves, they cannot be received. Similarly, our body is the external container, and within us is the spirit created by God — a receiver to receive the heavenly transmission of God. Through this organ, we are able to contact spiritual things. If our human spirit loses its function, we can no longer sense God. Therefore, we must adjust our spirit and exercise our spirit to contact God.
Since man has three parts, he also has three kinds of needs — physical needs, psychological needs and spiritual needs. Today, people often only care about the first two and neglect the third. This is why we need the church life — only the church life can help people satisfy their third kind of need. We may enjoy the finest material pleasures and the best mental fulfillment, yet still feel a lack. That is because we need spiritual enjoyment — we need God. Man’s spirit was specially created by God. Zechariah 12:1 says that God stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him. In the universe, there are three things of equal importance: the heavens, the earth and the human spirit. The heavens are for the earth, the earth is for man, and man has a spirit for God. God created the heavens for the earth — without the heavens, the earth could not produce life. The earth is for man, and man’s spirit is for containing God. Therefore, man is the center of the entire universe, and the center of man is his spirit. This is extremely significant. According to God’s view, if man has no spirit, he is an empty shell. Without man, the earth is void, and the heavens are useless. Praise the Lord! The heavens supply the earth, the earth supplies man, and man has a spirit to receive God. The human spirit is also the place where the Spirit of God works and the dwelling place of God Himself.
