The Only Requirement for a Sinner to Receive Salvation – A Heart Reach out to Touch the Lord (4) – Rom. 10:9-10

Romans 10:8–13 shows us that to believe in salvation does not mean believing in the reasons, theories or origins of salvation. Therefore, when preaching the gospel, we should not focus on delivering sermons, but on telling people that this salvation is in your mouth and in your heart. The gospel is simply a matter of the mouth and the heart. If a person had to rely on behavior to be saved, how difficult that would be. But today the word of the gospel is for everyone – it is something all can receive. A person only needs to confess with the mouth, and that is good enough; believe in the heart, and then it is done. “whoever calls on the name of the Lord should be saved.” As long as a person calls “Lord Jesus” – they are saved! Salvation is accomplished in them. Once the heart believes, it is enough; once the mouth confesses, it is done. In God’s eyes, salvation is something so complete, and for man to receive it is something so simple.

Study How Others Were Saved

In addition to studying examples in the Bible, we should also pay close attention to how salvation was accomplished among brothers and sisters. If you go and ask them, you will find: we were saved simply because of one sincere and genuine moment when we came before God. This requires effort and study. When we study carefully and find that some were saved in this way, and others in that way, then we will know how to respond to different men we encounter. When we preach the gospel, we should rather sacrifice eloquence or doctrine if it means we can save many people. Never prioritize explaining doctrine clearly, yet not bringing men before God. Our goal is not just to preach a “good” gospel, but to save men. We must always strive to open men’s hearts to the Lord, and also open their mouths. When a person’s heart is willing to turn to the Lord, and their mouth is willing to call on Him, then they can be saved.
