The Only Requirement for a Sinner to Receive Salvation – A Heart Reach out to Touch the Lord (2) — John 4:10

Luke 19:1–10 tells the story of Zacchaeus’ salvation. Zacchaeus’ “looking” is like the bleeding woman’s “touching” in Mark 5:25–30. Many people crowded around the Lord, yet their presence did not cause Him to feel anything. But the moment that bleeding woman touched Him, He immediately felt it. Zacchaeus’ act of looking was just like that. When Zacchaeus wanted to see the Lord, it caught the Lord’s attention. The Lord does not save those who are indifferent; He saves those who are hungry. He does not save those who simply crowd around Him, but those who reach out to touch Him. He does not save those who are merely watching a spectacle, but those who truly want to see Him. Zacchaeus was saved because he genuinely wanted to see the Lord. It was this subtle desire that led the Lord to save him. When the heart of a person reaches out, it greatly draws the Lord’s attention.

In Luke 23:39–43, we read about the two criminals crucified alongside the Lord. At first, both of them mocked Him. But when death approached, one of them suddenly had a mind change and said to the Lord, “Remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” As soon as his heart reached out to the Lord, his whole being followed. Though his prayer was technically incorrect, the Lord knew his intention, the Lord never gets it wrong. He immediately replied, “Today you will be with Me in Paradise.” His salvation did not depend on how much doctrine he knew; he was saved the moment his heart reached out.

In John 4:1–10, the Lord preached the gospel to the Samaritan woman. He did not explain the gospel in detail, nor did He speak of how He would die for her. He simply told her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” These words show us that God is ready and willing to give salvation. As long as a sinner says in their heart, “This is the Savior I need,” they can be saved instantly. We must follow the example of the Lord Jesus – to use the fewest words to save the greatest number of men. That is truly the most worthwhile thing.
