关于传福音，有两方面基本的真理：第一，神在基督里的工作。神在基督里的工作，就是神如何叫主耶稣在十字架上流血受死，以救赎我们的罪，然后祂复活了。神所以叫主耶稣复活了，乃是因为主耶稣满足了神的公义。这是福音的基本真理。这固然是最紧要的真理，但对罪人来说，这乃是已过的事。罪人是必须另外再作别的事，他才能得救。
第二，神将圣灵赐下来。神怎样把祂在基督里已过的工作，通到我们身上来？乃是藉着将圣灵赐下来。这也是福音的基本真理。圣灵如果没有赐下来，虽然主耶稣替我们完成了救赎，虽然神豫备好要接纳我们，但我们仍然不能得救。因为没有圣灵，主耶稣的工作就是客观的，不能变为主观的；就是身外的，不能变成身内的；并且只是神的，不能变为人的。所以乃是圣灵来了，基督所成功的工作，才能加在人身上。
现在的问题就是：主耶稣已经作了祂的工作，而圣灵又等着要在罪人身上作工，那么罪人到底应当作什么，才能得救呢？在传福音的人当中，有的人注意传悔改，有的人则是传相信，另有的人就传认罪。到底一个罪人要怎样作，才能得救呢？这就是我们今天必须知道的。
今天传福音的人，很自然的就带有神学的味道，他们已经替罪人摆好三面的事：第一，必须有一堆福音真理；第二，总得看见世界的虚空和罪的可恶等；第三，总得有某种行为，譬如总得有悔改、认罪、祷告、相信、受浸等。今天传福音的人，多半里头早已豫备好了这些事，这是他们基本的态度。他们就是豫备要叫人明白一堆福音的真理，然后叫人有一些行为，以为如此人才能得救。但这是不是圣经里的教训呢？到底圣经怎样教训我们传福音？到底主耶稣及使徒们怎样让人得救？我们从他们所作的，就能清楚知道我们应当如何传福音，并看见今天传福音的情形如何是不对的。

Pay Attention to What Sinners to Do in Evangelism – Eph. 2:16-17
Regarding evangelism, there are two basic truths: First, God’s work in Christ. God’s work in Christ is how the Lord Jesus shed His blood and died on the cross to redeem us from our sins, and then He resurrected. The reason God raised the Lord Jesus from the dead is because the Lord Jesus satisfied God’s righteousness. This is a foundational truth of the gospel. Although it is indeed the most crucial truth, to the sinner, this is something already fulfilled. The sinner still has to do something else in order to be saved.
Second, God has given us the Holy Spirit. How does God bring His fulfilled work in Christ to us? It is through the Holy Spirit, which is also a foundational truth of the gospel. If the Holy Spirit had not been given, even the Lord Jesus completed redemption for us and was ready to receive us, we still could not be saved. Because without the Holy Spirit, the work of the Lord Jesus would remain objective and could not become subjective; it would stay external and could not become internal; it would be God’s alone and could not become man’s. Therefore, it is only when the Holy Spirit comes that the fulfilled work of Christ can be applied to man.
Now the question is this: The Lord Jesus has already fulfilled His work, and the Holy Spirit is ready to work on the sinner – then what exactly must the sinner do in order to be saved? Among those who evangelize, some emphasize preaching repentance, others emphasize faith, while others preach confession of sins. So, what must a sinner actually do to be saved? This is what we need to understand today.
Today’s evangelists quite naturally bring in a flavor of theology. They have already laid out three aspects for the sinner: First, there must be a set of gospel truths; second, there must be recognition of the vanity of the world and the repulsiveness of sin; third, there must be some kind of action – such as repentance, confession, prayer, belief and baptism, etc. Most evangelists today have already prepared these steps in their minds – this is their fundamental stance. They are prepared to help men understand a collection of gospel truths and then lead them to take some actions, thinking that this is how men can be saved. But is this the teaching of the Bible? What does the Bible actually teach us about evangelism? How did the Lord Jesus and the apostles lead people to salvation? From what they did, we can clearly understand how we ought to evangelize, and see where today’s evangelistic practices have gone wrong.
