Preparation for Spreadingthe Gospel (4) — Rom. 1:16
2. Offering Good Prayers (Continued)
Some people may pray for a long time, yet their prayers remain hollow – unable to touch God’s throne or His very being. Although frequent, such prayers are not good prayers. You may be fervent in prayer but never allow God to touch you. If God does not touch you, it will be difficult for you to truly touch Him. Unless you surrender to God and allow Him to reach your innermost being, you cannot grasp a profound spiritual burden or extend the hand of faith in prayer to say, “God, You must act; You must issue this command from Your throne”. This is the essence of a good prayer. We need to learn both consecration of ourselves and this level of prayer
3. Exercising Faith
When sharing the gospel, every brother and sister must learn to have faith. However, without prior consecration and good prayers, it is quite challenging to possess true faith. With proper consecration and prayer, faith will naturally arise within you, enabling you to look beyond outward circumstances. Often, those who speak from the platform can be influenced by external factors. For example, seeing a half-empty venue or noticing attendees nodding off can trouble their spirit, causing their message to falter. Additionally, Satan may work through the audience’s reactions, such as shaking heads or critical expressions, to discourage the speakers. In such moments, faith becomes essential. Faith arises from surrendering to the Lord, allowing Him to touch every aspect of your being. If you are a consecrated person, one who lets the Lord work in you and engages in good prayers, faith will flow as you share the gospel. Your message will not rely on visible reactions but will stem from unwavering faith. Even when someone in the audience shakes their head, faith can declare, “The first to repent will be the one shaking their head”. If others are dozing off, faith will say, “Just one phrase from God’s Word is enough to save them”. Even if they sleep through the meeting but hear a single moment of truth – perhaps the declaration that “Jesus is Lord” – that one truth can lead to their salvation. This is faith.
Faith does not depend on the outward approval of listeners. Those who compliment the message, praise the meeting hall, or affirm the teachings may not necessarily be saved. Many such individuals later show no real spiritual change. On the other hand, those who appear skeptical, critical, or even antagonistic might still be reached by God’s power. As Romans 1:16 reminds us, the gospel is the power of God for the salvation of all who believe. Therefore, when sharing the gospel, do not focus on people’s reactions; instead, put your faith in God’s power.
