对干渴寻求水喝的撒玛利亚妇人
对干渴寻求水喝的撒玛利亚妇人，主说祂有活水，能使她永远不再渴（约四10，14）。这是何等的应许，何等的呼召！这个不道德的撒玛利亚妇人有许多丈夫。她是干渴的，所以她来打水；主耶稣就坐在那里，等候她来。主耶稣特意绕道去撒玛利亚，坐在雅各布井旁。这位救主是无所不知的。祂知道这个不道德的妇人要来，所以祂坐在那里等她。这是何等的怜悯！主说，『凡喝这水的，还要再渴；人若喝我所赐的水，就永远不渴；我所赐的水，要在他里面成为泉源，直涌入永远的生命。』这水不仅要解我们的干渴，也要解所有我们接触之人的干渴。
对那些过住棚节的人
对那些过住棚节的人，在他们节期的末日，祂说，『人若渴了，可以到我这里来喝。信入我的人，就如经上所说，从他腹中要流出活水的江河来』（约七37下-38）。我们必须信入主耶稣。我们必须与祂有这样的联结；我们必须『接上电插头』。电器接上电插头，电流一流进来，就会起作用。单单信主耶稣是不彀的；我们必须信『入』祂。我们可能信了主耶稣，却与祂没有任何的联结。这就是为甚么我们需要『入』这个介系词。主耶稣就像电一样，我们必须接上电插头，插入这电流里。然后，生命水的河就要从我们腹中涌流出来。活水的江河（原文，复数），乃是生命多方面的流出，源自那惟一生命水的河（启二二1），就是神的生命之灵（罗八2）。
主带着应许的呼召
在启示录里，主对万民说，『我要将生命泉的水白白赐给那口渴的人喝』（启二一6下）。源是源头；泉是从源发出而涌现的；然后这泉涌出来，成为涌流的河。我们都知道，从主来的这带着应许的呼召，今天仍然在向每一个住在这地上的人发出。神是涌流的源头。神首先流在子里，然后祂作为那灵继续涌流，流到我们，分赐祂自己作生命的元素，带着生命树，好解我们的干渴，并满足我们。水解人干渴；树使人满足。

The Lord’s Calling Comes with Promise — John 14:13-14
To the thirsty Samaritan woman seeking water, the Lord said He had living water and she shall never thirst (John 4:10, 14). What a promise and calling! This immoral Samaritan woman had many husbands. She was thirsty, so she came to draw water; and the Lord Jesus sat there, waiting for her to come. The Lord Jesus made a special detour to Samaria and sat by Jacob’s well. This Savior is omniscient . He knew this immoral woman was coming and sat there waiting for her. What a mercy! The Lord said, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst, but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” This water will not only quench our thirst, but also quench the thirst of all those with whom we come in contact.
To those celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles, at the end of their feast, Jesus said, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, from his innermost being will flow rivers of living water” (John 7:37b-38). We must believe in the Lord Jesus and have this connection with Him, that is “to plug in”. When the electrical appliance is connected to an electric plug, current flows in and it will work. Merely believing in the Lord Jesus is not enough; we must believe “into” Him. We may believe in the Lord Jesus but have no connection with Him. That’s why we need the preposition “into”. The Lord Jesus is like electricity, we have to connect to the electric plug and insert ourselves into this current. Then, the rivers of the water of life will flow out from our innermost part. Rivers of living water are the multifaceted outflows of life, originating from the only river of water of life (Rev. 22:1), which is God’s Spirit of life (Rom. 8:2).
In the Book of Revelation, the Lord says to all nations, “I will give him who thirsts from the spring of the water of life freely (Rev. 21:6b). The spring is the source; the fountain springs up from the source; then the fountain gushes out and becomes a flowing river. We all know that this calling comes with promise from the Lord. Today it is still being issued to those who are living on this earth. God is the source of the flow. God first flows in the Son, and then He as the Spirit continues flowing to us, imparting Himself as the element of life with the tree of life to quench our thirst and satisfy us. Water quenches thirst; trees satisfy man.
